Walp, the Bubba Nation is in full invasion mode here in Phoenix.  Since I live like RIGHT NEXT to the track, I get all kinds of interesting things going on.  Things can be a little tense when 150,000 of your not-so-close friends decide to camp in the neighborhood. This year I decided to bury the hatchet(maybe in a bald spot),  Angry     quit griping about NASCAR, and join in the fun.  If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right?

Circle K across the street from my house turns into a tent city.  Can’t really get a picture to do it justice, but here’s a couple of minor looks:

I don’t know about Y’all, but this here gets me right in the mood… I think it pretty much says it all.

When the Crown Royal team parked outside the gate of the Route 66 Rambler compound, I decided they wouldn’t mind if Molly hitched a ride while the car was at Circle K wowing the crowd…
So here’s Molly fixin’ to load up and get ‘er done on the Big Tour…

I suppose I should Photoshop the Crown Royal racing scheme onto my Molly Blue to make it more convincing..

And of course, one of the cool things is the cars.  I can’t take enough pictures of them all, but this is the rarest one I saw today…  The Brand New Lamborghini, can’t remember the name.  That guy at the Circle K gas pump is an Italian journalist here for photo ops and a run around the track with the car.  There are five of these in different colors that have been buzzing around the neighborhood for about a week.

Yesterday I saw a flamed and blown 57 Chevy, a real bad Model A 5 window, and a genuine 427 A/C Cobra.  I wasn’t holding the camera or my phone at the time, so no pics on those cars…  You never know what you’ll find at the pumps around here, from bulldozers and farm tractors, to GTA Le Mans race cars in full trim gassing up for the next round.

This is the thing that freaks my friends out the most when they  come to see me.  I have a picture somewhere of a tractor with a thresher on it, parked at the curb in front of the store, a stray cow in the parking lot, and a GT Prototype-class Porsche from the Rolex Le Mans Series gassing up, next to a radical custom Harley with a Sheriff’s Deputy in uniform sitting on it, while wearing his Smokey Bear hat…

Here’s the night-time version of things.  This is relevant, after all it is a night race.  This is the Busch Series stuff tonight…

PIR with the lights up…

Launching fireworks off of Rattlesnake Hill after the Busch show…

The crowd is rolling before the smoke is gone from the fireworks…

Our local finest, working for the Toughest Sheriff in America, brave the onslaught of 150,00 violent speed-crazed rednecks…

Our little country Circle K has now become Vegas South:

I’ll keep an eye out for other strange or cool looking race-related items…
